The Colorado Springs area offers many employment opportunities in the military, aerospace, electronics and tourism industries. Barr Trail begins in Manitou Springs and runs a full 13 miles one way to the summit. Several events are held at Pikes Peaks each year, including the Pikes Peak Marathon and the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Garden of the Gods is a registered national historic landmark, featuring picnic areas, horseback riding, biking, rock climbing, hiking, and guided walks. The park is known for its impressive red and white sandstone formations as well as the fossils and other historic markings.
Colorado Springs/Norwood residents enjoy a climate of four seasons. Winter brings cool temperatures and snow; spring provides colorful blooms as the snowcaps thaw; summers are warm and humid; and fall temperatures slowly transition back to the winter lows. Throughout the year, temperatures range from lows in the teens to highs in the mid-80s.
